The Dress Code

Funky Formal.

Think: black tie meets your favorite vintage shop. Velvet jackets, statement suits, sequins, satin. Lean into jewel tones and fall hues — emerald, sapphire, ruby, rust, mustard, amethyst. Wear something you'd take a picture in. If your outfit makes you feel like the most interesting person at the party, you nailed it.

Bring it on

  • Velvet, satin, sequins, jacquard
  • Bold suits — color, pattern, or texture
  • Vintage tuxes & retro silhouettes
  • Statement shoes (yes, even the loud ones)
  • Floor-length gowns, midi dresses, jumpsuits
  • A great hat. Big jewelry. A pop of color.

Maybe save for another night

  • Jeans, tees, sneakers
  • Cargo shorts (we love you, but no)
  • Costumes — it's not Halloween yet

Not into funky? Classic formal works just as well. Wear what makes you feel like yourself.

FAQ

Things people actually ask.

Is the ceremony outdoors?
Yes — the ceremony is on the rooftop of Corrigan Station. Mid-October in Kansas City is usually beautiful, but bring a light layer just in case. The reception moves indoors.
Can I bring a plus-one?
Plus-ones are listed by name on your invitation. If your invite is addressed to you only, please RSVP just for yourself. We're at venue capacity.
Are kids welcome?
We love your kids — but this one's adults only. Use it as an excuse for a date night (or a weekend away with the babysitter).
What does "funky formal" actually mean?
Black-tie level of effort, but with personality. Velvet, sequins, bold color, vintage suits, statement accessories — see the attire section above and the Pinterest board for inspiration. If you'd wear it to a normal black-tie wedding, dial it up a notch.
Where should I park?
Easy — there's free garage parking in the lot directly across the street from the venue. No meters, no circling the block, no hunting for change. If you'd rather skip the drive entirely, a Lyft or Uber from any of the hotels above is just a few minutes.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes. Corrigan Station has elevator access to the rooftop and reception spaces. Email us if you have any specific accessibility needs and we'll make sure they're handled.
Will food and drinks be provided?
Yes — welcome cocktails, a seated dinner, an open bar, and late-night bites. Please flag dietary restrictions on your RSVP.
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We're going phone-free for the ceremony itself — please put it away so our photographer can do their thing. After that, snap away and please share!
